Etta Rene JonesDecember 04, 1923 - July 22, 2010 Forever in our hearts...
Etta Rene Jones was born December 4, 1923 in Antoine, Arkansas, to the union of Richard Gentry and Caldonia Bailey. She was the next to the youngest of 7 siblings, who all preceded her in going home. She met her husband, Johnnie J. Jones, at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. While in Little Rock, she taught school, grades 1-6. They resided in Chicago for a short while, and then moved to Seattle, making it their permanent home. She was a faithful worker for the United States Post Office, until she retired. A former member of Tolliver’s Temple and currently with Miracle Temple COGIC, she loved church and spent her last years deeply involved with this community and had many, many church friends and acquaintances. Some of her hobbies were baking, sewing and gardening. She always said “A meal ain’t complete without something sweet.” She was called to glory, Thursday, July 22nd at 11:45 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie J. Jones. She is survived by her 8 children and their spouses whom are: Johnny Jones, Jr. and wife Pamela; Kenneth B. Jones; Glenn O. Jones; Harold M. Jones and wife Carolyn; Gary Jones and Addie Marie Jones, Patricia A. Mc Fadden, and Loretta Jones. She also leaves behind a host of Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Funeral InformationVisitation on Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home from 9-6PM. Additional viewing will be held one hour to the 12Noon service on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Greater Glory Church of God & Christ (6419 Martin Luther King Way South, Seattle, WA. 98118 - (206) 760-3701. After funeral services, a graveside service will be held at Abby View Cemetery in Brier, Washingto with the repast immediately after at the Greater Glory Church of God & Christ.
