Edein French, a descendent of Macbeth, King of Scotland, was born in Nelson, British Columbia on September 22, 1915. She resided in Seattle for over 60 years where she lived her life with dignity, integrity and grace before leaving on August 18th, 2008 to become an angel. Edein was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Ethel French and her cherished golden retriever, Heather, who she treated like her child.
Edein graduated, Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Washington in 1939 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology and finished her graduate work at University of Washington Graduate School of Social Work in 1941. She continued her training in psychoanalytic theory and psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy at the Seattle Psychoanalytic Institute. She was very proud to have served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Seattle Mental Health Association in the 1950's and as a case consultant for the Jewish Family and Children's Services early in her career. She was an active case consultant to many mental health professionals. She maintained her private practice as a psychotherapist, working until retiring at the age of 84.
Many were touched by her healing spirit and beautiful soul and those of us left here on earth will enjoy our memories as we mourn our loss comforted by the fact that Edein will be reunited with many friends and family in Heaven.
Services will be Thursday, August 28, 2008 in the chapel at Evergreen Washelli, located at 11111 Aurora Avenue North in Seattle at 6:00pm. Please sign the online guestbook for Edein at www.washelli.com.
