Marie Nakata
Marie passed away July 12, 2008 at Swedish Hospital surrounded by family and friends. The only daughter of Koshiro and Katuya Furukawa, Marie was born on June 27, 1922 in The Dalles, OR.
At a young age, Marie moved with her family to Sunnyside, WA where she received her education and graduated with honors from Sunnyside High School. Her passions were sports, games of chance and her religion. Marie was an accomplished bowler and swimmer. She closely followed all the Seattle professional teams and the U.W. Huskies. Marie was a regular at Longacres and was known to frequent casinos both locally and in Reno. She especially enjoyed her Friday night poker games with the gang. She was a long time member of St. Peters Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her five brothers, Hiroshi, John, Fred, Isaac and Ben. Marie is survived by sons Larry (Aileen) and James (Joy), grandchildren Tracie and Ryan (Amy) and three great grandsons.
