I probably sent you this already, but here is an electronic version of the obituary to use as part of the text for the program:

Margaret A. SHUHAM

Margaret Shuham, 91, died on March 18, 2008 at Providence Marianwood Nursing Home, Issaquah WA. Born on June 8, 1916, "Margie" was known for her kind and gentle manner, her curiosity, her style, her dry sense of humor and her ability to see the good side of things and other people.

Margie grew up in Waitsburg and Walla Walla WA, and graduated from Whitman College. She taught first grade in Vancouver WA from 1938 to 1942, until she joined the American Red Cross as a hospital recreation worker. She served in England, Belgium, Germany, Japan and Korea. In 1957, she returned home to Walla Walla to care for her father and taught school at College Place until 1960. From 1960 until 1978 when she retired, she taught school at Greenlake Elementary in Seattle.

After Margie retired, she was an active volunteer with Providence Hospital (now Swedish Medical Center - Providence Campus), Puget Sound Blood Bank and St. Bridget's Church. Throughout her life, she helped many people in small, sometimes subtle ways. Her sister Mary said, "My sister brought more joy and love to more people than I can explain."

Margie was preceded in death by: her parents, Anna & Walter Shuham; her sisters Elizabeth Shuham, Erma Sullivan and Mary Dore; and her brother, Walter Shuham. Margie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at St. Bridget Church, 4900 NE 50th St, Seattle, WA 98105; 206 523 8787, on Thursday March 27, 2008, at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Swedish Medical Center-Providence Campus, Puget Sound Blood Bank, St. Bridget Church, Children's Hospital, Providence Marianwood or the charity of your choice.
